At Afrosmeet, protecting your privacy is an absolute priority. This policy explains transparently what data we collect, why we use it, who we share it with, and how you can exercise your rights. It complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR — EU 2016/679) and applicable French law.

We collect only the data necessary to operate the service:
- Identity: first name, age, email address.
- Profile: photos, bio, interests and dating preferences.
- Identity verification: a verification photo (reproducing a model pose) to confirm you are the person in your photos.
- Location: approximate geographic position, only with your explicit consent, to suggest nearby profiles.
- Technical data: IP address, device type, OS, connection logs — for security and app stability.
- Payment data: processed exclusively by the App Store (Apple) or Google Play. Afrosmeet does not store any banking information.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
In accordance with Article 6 of the GDPR, we process your data on the following legal bases:
- Contract performance (Art. 6.1.b) — account creation, matching and messaging features.
- Consent (Art. 6.1.a) — geolocation, push notifications, non-essential cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f) — moderation, fraud detection, member safety, service improvement.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6.1.c) — retention of certain data required by French law (reports, disputes).

- Create and manage your account, personalise profile suggestions.
- Verify and moderate profiles — fighting fake accounts, impersonation, routers, romance scammers and commercial profiles.
- Enable connections between members (matching, messaging).
- Send notifications related to your activity on the app.
- Improve app features and performance.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to requests from competent authorities.
5. Minors
Afrosmeet is exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we discover an account belongs to a person under 18, it will be deleted immediately. To report a minor: contact@afrosmeet.com
6. Data Sharing
Your personal data is never sold to third parties. It may be shared only with:
- Technical service providers: cloud hosting (Amazon Web Services — EU servers), push notifications (Firebase/Google), payments (Apple / Google).
- Competent authorities where required by law or in cases of serious reports (fraud, illegal conduct, danger to a member).
7. International Transfers
Our main servers are hosted within the European Union (AWS eu-west region). Some providers (Firebase/Google, Apple) may process data outside the EU. These transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, ensuring an equivalent level of protection to the GDPR.
8. Cookies
- Essential cookies — required for site functionality. No consent needed.
- Analytics cookies — audience measurement via Google Analytics / GTM. Deposited only with your consent.
- Advertising pixels — Meta Pixel (Facebook). Deposited only with your consent.
9. Data Retention
- Active account: data retained for the duration of your account activity.
- Inactive account: after 12 months of inactivity, data is automatically deleted or anonymised.
- After account deletion: data erased within 30 days, except data retained for legal obligations (max. 5 years).
- Verification photo: deleted immediately after profile validation.

12. Security
Afrosmeet implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data: HTTPS/TLS encryption, restricted internal data access, secure hosting on AWS (ISO 27001 certified), and continuous access monitoring.
13. Policy Updates
We may update this policy at any time. In the event of a material change, you will be notified via the app or by email. Continued use of the service after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
